Our History and Background

Stand for Children with Down syndrome. SCD is a Refugee Led Organization based in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda. SCD is registered by the government as a CBO and is best positioned and rooted in the community. Established in 2022, the founder and visionary of Stand for Children with Down syndrome (SCD) is a refugee based in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, .a mother of a child born with Down syndrome known in the name of Victoire Murekerende.

Through her background and work experience she managed to establish a Community Based Organization (CBO) that will advocate for programs and therapies available for children with Down syndrome, Provide Psychosocial supports services and strengthen the economic capacities skills of families of children with Down syndrome.

At the same time Stand for Children with Down syndrome’s services are firmly focused on practical advice designed to improve outcomes for children with Down syndrome at home and in the classroom. In a few words, how we can best help children with Down syndrome to achieve their potential and increase their quality of live.

Stand for Children with Down syndrome SCD has a strong and committed team with different expertise and it strength is integrity and self-management to ensure sustainability of SCD projects.
